Create or add a Server (Windows Workgroup)

A Server node represents a physical computer in your enterprise on which the WFO server software is installed.

Follow the instructions in this section if the servers in your enterprise are networked as a Windows Workgroup. If the servers in your enterprise are networked as a Windows Domain, see Create or add a Server (Windows domain).

You cannot add a recorder server if the recorder has server roles enabled that use Conditional Custom Data (such as Recorder Integration Service or Import Export Manager Product that exports recorded content (audio and metadata) from a system recording platform to an open file system for use by the customer or a third-party application.) and all of the following conditions are true:

  • The Extended Custom Data Features flag is selected. This Features flag is selected by default. (When this Features flag is selected, 300 Custom Data fields are available.)

  • The Multi-tenant Instance license item is selected.

  • The server that you want to add:

    • Is from release V15.2 HFR7 or earlier

    • Belongs to a Site or Site Group that has the Shared status (the servers in the Site or Site Group are shared by all tenants in the system)

Before you begin

The server for which you are creating the Server node must be physically installed. Enterprise Manager connects to the physical server during this procedure.

Procedure

  1. Go to System Management. Under Enterprise, select Settings.

  2. In the Installations tree (left pane), select the Site where the server is installed.

  3. Click Create Installation, and then choose Server.

  4. Complete these fields on the New Server screen:

    • Name - Specify the name for the server node in the Installations tree. This name is at your discretion.

    • Description - A server description is optional.

    • Server Name - Specify the host name, FQDN, or IP address of the server.

    • Port Number - Specify the port on which the server listens for HTTP connections. The default setting of port 80 is recommended.

    • HTTPS Port Number - Specify the port on which the server listens for HTTPS connections. The default setting of port 443 is recommended.

  5. Click Save.

  6. If this is the first 15.1 server being added to the enterprise, do the following:

    1. Restart the WFO Production Service on each Application server.

      • If only one Application Server exist, on the Application Server, open Windows Services, and restart the WFO_ProductionDomain_ProductionServer service.

      • If the Application Servers are clustered, use the Services Implementation Tool to restart the WFO_ProductionDomain_ProductionServer service on all Application Servers in the cluster.

    2. When the Production Service is running again, in the Installations tree (left pane), select the new 15.1 server, then click Save.

  7. Include the server name in the Username field of the Management Service Account on the Enterprise Settings screen:

    1. Click Enterprise Settings (above the right pane).

    2. Under Management Service Account, in the Username field, do one of the following:

      • Ensure that the server name is the correct server name for this server

      • Enter a period for the server name.

        <server name>\<Management Service Account>
        .\<Management Service Account>

        Examples:

        vm-ft-wg1\msa.\msa

When you add a new server, the Username field defaults to the name of the first server that was added to the site. Manually change the server name so that it reflects the name of the server you are currently adding.

  8. Repeat the procedure for each server you want to add to the Installations tree.

  9. It can take a moment for the new Site and Servers to appear. Once the changes are sent to all servers, restart each server.

The changes are successfully sent to the servers when the Pending Messages icon Pending messages icon disappears from the screen.
