SIP Proxy Adapter

Procedure

  1. Click General Setup. Under Integration Adapters, click Settings.

  2. Click Create, then select SIP Proxy Adapter.

  3. Specify settings for this adapter on the right side, referring to the following table (all fields are required unless otherwise indicated):

    Field

    Description

    Adapter Name

Type a unique name for this adapter. Do not use any special characters or characters that truncate xml. This field is not case-sensitive.

    Description

Optional: Type a description of the adapter.

    Adapter Type

A read-only field that lists the selected adapter.

    Startup Type

Select a startup type: Automatic, Manual, or Disabled.

    DataSource

Select a data source Third-party systems that provide data to the system, including employee and device states, and data change events. Typical data sources are phone switches, PBXs, or LANs. (created in Enterprise Manager).

    Record Unknown Devices

To record any device, even if it is unrecognized, select this option.

    SIP Protocol

Select a protocol for the SIP Proxy adapter:

    • SIP over UDP—User Datagram Protocol (UDP) allows applications to send messages to hosts on an IP network. UDP has a lower overhead because it assumes that error checking is either not required or that this processing is done elsewhere.

    • SIP over TCP—Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) is best for applications (such as email and file transfer) that require a reliable data stream service.

    • SIP over TLS—Transport Layer Security (TLS) is designed to secure client/server communications over a network. It operates on segments of network connections above the Transport Layer.

    • SIP over TLS with System Certificate— Choose this option to use the local HTTPS certificate on the server to encrypt external connections over the trunk for server-side and client-side communication. The adapter loads the local server certificate for the SIP interface, uses the local server “HTTP Alias” for the SIP Contact header, and uses the IP address of the NIC on Recorder server for the Session Description Protocol (SDP) media lines.

    Listen at IP Address

Listen at IP address: Specify the IPv4 address for the adapter to bind the SIP trunk and receive traffic. The address must be a valid IPv4 address on one of the network interfaces of the local system. When the adapter starts, if the Listen at IP address field is empty, the adapter listens to each network interface with a valid IPv4 address. The adapter starts only when the IPv4 address can be located.

    Port

Type the listen port for the IP address specified earlier. If Telephony Playback Server is installed on the Integration Service machine, you must use a port other than 5060.

The specified port cannot be in use by any other application or adapter on the local server.

    Enable Debug Logging

When not selected, the system performs typical SIP logging. When selected, additional logging from the underlying SIP stack occurs. Due to the significant increase in logging, only enable this setting for troubleshooting purposes. Not selected by default.

    Audio Codec Support

    Field

    Description

    Audio Codecs

Select a supported codec from the list of those available.

    Recorder Generated Comfort Noise

Complete the settings in this section if generating comfort noise.

    Field

    Description

    Generate Packets

When selected, the Recorder generates comfort noise packets that are sent to the SIP end point. The default is disabled.

    Packet Interval (seconds)

The rate, in seconds, in which RTP packets are sent by the IP Recorder. The default is 20 seconds. The Packet Interval is configurable from 1 to 60 seconds.

    Video Codec Support

    Field

    Description

    Record Video Streams

Controls video stream recording over the interface. When not selected, the recorder does not record any video streams. When selected, the recorder attempts to record video streams. The capabilities and licensing of the recording site control video stream recording. Not selected by default.

    Video Codecs

Select a supported codec from the list.

    TLS Parameters

Complete the settings in this section if you are using Secure RTP with SIP over Transport Layer Security (TLS).

    Field

    Description

    KeyStore Filename

To use the standard keys that are installed with the recorder, leave this field set to the default. If you have generated a new key, type the path to that key here.

    Password

If you used the standard, pre-installed keys, enter the password provided in the associated Recorder Integration Guide.

    File format

Select the file format that matches that of the file specified in the KeyStore Filename field.

    Support sRTP to RTP fallback

To support fallback to RTP if secure/encrypted RTP is not available, select this option.

    Enable Mutual Authentication

Enabled by default. Allows two-way authentication between two parties, each authenticating the other at the same time in an authentication protocol.

    Security Profile

A security profile on the Secure Gateway (SGW) defines the protocols and ciphers allowed for secure communications. Client connections that do not meet this minimum protocol are rejected, and may result in recording loss. The Security Profile setting specifies from where the adapter must obtain the profile.

    • Site Setting - The adapter obtains the associated profile of Intermediate or Modern based on the server site "HTTPS Protocol and Cipher Configuration" setting in Enterprise Manager.

    • Intermediate - The adapter uses the selected configuration of Intermediate. Use this setting for backward compatibility.

    • Modern - The adapter uses the selected configuration of Modern. Use this setting for the strongest security.

    SIP Statistics

    Field

    Description

    Enable SIP Statistics Gathering

To display SIP trunk processing rates on the Integration Status page for the Integration Service, select this option. SIP Statistics include requests, responses, and calls handled by a single SIP adapter.

    Statistics logging period (minutes)

The duration for which SIP statistics are gathered, in minutes. The default is 15.

  4. Under Advanced Settings, use the Key and Value fields to enter any proprietary pairs that are in use in your system.

  5. Click Save. The adapter appears on the left side.
